Biomedical Research Building II/III, Philadelphia, PA

The BRBII/III is dedicated primarily to biomedical research with emphasis on the following programs: Cancer Biology, Gene Therapy, Experimental Therapeutics, Developmental and Reproductive Biology and various Medicine disciplines.

The design team's efforts have resulted in the achievement of a highly efficient building design, with a net-to-gross floor plate efficiency of 77%; and the overall building net-to-gross efficiency at 69%. BRBII/III consists of 11 floors of generic laboratory space (204,600 NSF), a single-level vivarium (25,000 NSF) and amenities (auditorium, conference center, faculty lounge and cafeteria) and BSL3 labs. Each generic laboratory floor has 5,735 NSF of laboratory support and 8,550 NSF of generic lab space, resulting in a lab-to-lab support ratio of 67%.

The generic laboratories are designed to accommodate virtually any bench top research, while the flexible laboratory support zone can be tailored to the specific requirements of individual researchers of departments.
