Pierce Hall Chemistry Addition, Riverside, CA
The Pierce Hall Chemistry Addition (28,500 gsf) was designed to provide additional chemistry research laboratory space to facilitate "cutting edge" research and education. In response, GPR designed laboratories that accommodate the requirements for instrument and synthetic laboratories. The laboratories were designed such that a laboratory suite was created. At the entry to the suite, a researcher can enter either the laboratory directly or access a graduate office. With the location of the graduate offices directly adjacent to the laboratories, future expansion of the laboratories can be accommodated by the expansion of the laboratories into the graduate offices. In addition, GPR conducted an air dispersion study to investigate optimum stack design, stack location and exhaust fume hood emission dispersion. The study investigated potential exhaust contamination in areas surrounding the building and included recommendations to prevent contamination from occurring.
