Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building, Rochester, NY

The new Arthur Kornberg Medical Research Building, located on the campus of the University of Rochester Medical Center, is intended to greatly enhance and expand selected biomedical research programs and attract new talented faculty. The 290,000 gsf project provides for research needs for the University of Rochester Medical Center, as well as, a new main entrance, medical school education rooms, and shared conference center for the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. The research portion of the KMRB provides 141,000 nasf of space consisting of four generic laboratory floors and a single level vivarium. The generic laboratories are designed to accommodate virtually any bench top research, while the flexible support space can be tailored to the specific requirements of individual researchers. The research programs selected by the University's strategic planning task force as research "areas of emphasis" for the KMRB are the areas of Aging and Developmental Biology, Vaccine Biology, Cancer Biology, Cardiovascular Biology and Oral Biology.
