Winship Cancer Research Institute, Atlanta, GA

The Winship Cancer Institute (WCI) was designed to meet Emory University's goal to provide significant research expansion and to raise the Medical School's status as a major biomedical research facility by attracting the best minds in science and research. The WCI provides research space in a comprehensive, interactive environment which will accommodate growth and change in program as well as technology.

The functional and space program for research space in the WCI includes a total of 81,570 NSF. This program includes all prototypical laboratory space for basic research, its related lab support and office space, a vivarium, and core facilities. The laboratories accommodate almost any bench top research, while the support space can be easily tailored to the needs of individual researchers or disciplines. Offices and a large auditorium and conference center are located in close proximity of one another on the lab floors to facilitate translational discourse between disciplines.

GPR was retained to provide programming, planning and design through construction documents.
