Robert H. Lubalin
Principal

Robert H. Lubalin is a principal at GPR Planners Collaborative, Inc., specializing in the programming, planning and design of government-related laboratories. As a former associate partner of a major architectural design firm in New York, Mr. Lubalin brings over 22 years of experience to the firm. He is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects, and has lectured on the topic of Laboratory Planning before the National AIA and New York City AIA Conventions. Mr. Lubalin holds a Bachelor of Architecture from The City College, City University of New York and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Syracuse University.

Food & Drug Administration
Center for Food Safety and Nutrition / C.V.M., College Park, MD...an open lab plan concept was incorporated to facilitate collaboration among scientists and materials management was incorporated into the labs along an interconnecting corridor.

The Van Andel Institute
Phase I, Grand Rapids, MI...research laboratories include high efficiency generic planning emphasis on the importance of natural light, an open interactive lab environment, and a furniture system which can adapt to changing spatial and technical requirements.

National Institute of Health
John Edward Porter Neuroscience Research Center, Bethesda, MD … Research is organized thematically, often grouping researchers using varying disciplines - molecular biology, genetics, electrophysiology, imaging and behavioral studies - in a team approach to problem solving. To accomplish this mission the research neighborhoods were developed as research lofts that can be configured in a variety of ways, including for animal research on rodents and primates.

Emory University
Robert Winship Comprehensive Cancer Center, Atlanta, GA … program includes all prototypical laboratory space for basic research, its related lab support and office space, a vivarium, and core facilities. The laboratories accommodate almost any bench top research, while the support space can be easily tailored to the needs of individual researchers or disciplines.
